Remembering our Friends

SALLY PASCALL
Sally Pascall was an enthusiastic and involved member of the Black Stag Archers for several years, fulfilling roles as Safeguarding Officer and Club Secretary with distinction. She was able to control all the Committee members, including her husband Bob, with ease, using her background in education.
Sally was very keen to temper the enthusiasm of the more blood thirsty members who would have liked to shoot at animal targets. She devised rules penalising archers for hits, especially in the club event "Don't shoot the Bear!"
Sally's health had deteriorated in recent times and she had not been able to shoot for some years. Sally had a severe stroke on Christmas Day and died aged 74 (by a few minutes) on 5th January, 2025.
There is no doubt that the club would have folded without her in the early noughties when we were down to a handful of members.

Thank you Sally, Rest in Peace.

David Cohen
Although David Cohen was not a member of Black Stag Archers, he reintroduced BSA coach, Rob Mckinley, back into archery in 2008, both encouraging and guiding him on his archery coaching journey. He became a mentor and a respected voice to Rob, who is now a Level 2 Archery Coach.

David, a former GNAS County Judge, and Rob led session programs developing Archery for Tower Hamlets council in support of their Olympic programs, while promoting practice and open sessions in local schools within Hackney.
David had stopped shooting 12 years ago, after being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. He sadly passed on 28th December 2024, leaving behind his wife Phyllis and two daughters. He wished to donate his archery equipment to Black Stag Archers, so as to support new archers and continue his passion for Archery instruction.

"Thank you Dave, rest well. Love and respect".
